Navigating the Employer Portal

Purpose

This is a tour of the Employer Portal: the left navigation, the top bar, and the Home dashboard you will check every morning. What you see depends on your role and on which modules your company has enabled. This article describes the full Employer Administrator view.

Who needs this: anyone new to the Employer Portal.

When to use this

Read it once in your first week, and come back whenever an article sends you to a menu you cannot find. The Common problems section explains why an item may be missing for you.

What's NewRelease notes and product updates

Greyed-out items are modules your company has not enabled. Users other than the Employer Administrator see only what their role grants.

DSP note: For Delivery Service Partner (DSP) accounts, Time Tracking also contains Cortex Time Variance.

The top bar

  • Search Employee by Name or ID: jump straight to any employee profile.
  • Notifications (bell) and the AI assistant icon (if enabled).
  • Profile menu: your Account Information (login accounts, password, 2-Step Verification) and logout.
  • ?: this help center.

The Home dashboard

The homepage is a monitoring centre. From top to bottom:

  • Live Workforce Banner, refreshed automatically every minute: Clocked In / On Break / Approaching 12 Hrs Limit / Approaching 60 Hrs Limit counts.
  • Alerts & Insights, grouped in tabs with counts:
    • Time Tracking: 12 Hours Daily Limit, 60 Hours Weekly Limit (rolling 7 days), 10-Hour Rest Gap between shifts, 7 Consecutive Working Days. Each shows worked versus scheduled numbers.
    • HR: I-9 Section 1 and Section 2 pending, split Within Window and Outside Window.
    • Employee Data: setup gaps that break payroll or compliance. Overtime Rule Not Assigned, Not Enrolled in Time Tracking, Break Not Assigned.
    • Payroll: Missed Payrolls (a cut-off passed without processing), by pay group.
  • Your Action Needed: the prioritised to-do queue. Pending timesheet reviews, missing clock-outs, timesheet modification approvals, time-off requests, and benefits-enrolment shortcuts.
  • Who's Out: today's absences.

DSP note: For Delivery Service Partner (DSP) accounts, Alerts & Insights adds Manager Override % under Time Tracking (the share of punches edited by managers, with add, modify, and delete breakdowns) and four extra Employee Data checks: PTO Policy Not Assigned, NY Unpaid Time Off Policy, Invalid Pay Type/FLSA Status, and CMW Rate Compliance.

Work the dashboard with the Pay Group and date-range filters (pay-period-aware once a pay group is selected), Refresh (everything except the live banner is manual refresh), Export (Excel or PDF), Notify (email, SMS, or push to employees, individually or in bulk, using templates), Hide (suppress rows; restorable), and drill-down to employee-level, day-by-day detail. Role-based access applies to every section.

Tip: Make the dashboard your morning routine. Clear Your Action Needed, then scan Employee Data for setup gaps. They are cheap to fix before payroll and expensive after.

Mobile

The Employer Portal is a web application. The UZIO Mobile App covers employee self-service and, for Reporting Managers, team timesheet and time-off approvals under More > Manage Team. Payroll, Manage Users, company settings, and the Home dashboard described here are web-only.

Common problems

An article mentions a menu item I don't have

Your role does not include it. Ask your Employer Administrator to check your role in Manage Users. See How to read "Employer Admin" in other articles.

A menu item is greyed out for everyone, including the Employer Administrator

The module is not enabled for your company. Enabling a module is done by UZIO; see Still stuck?.

The dashboard counts don't match what I expect

Check the Pay Group and date-range filters first; most sections follow them. Then click Refresh. Only the live banner updates on its own. Rows you hid earlier stay hidden until you restore them.

I was signed out while working

UZIO signs you out after a period of inactivity. Log in again; unsaved edits on the page you were on are lost, so save frequently on long forms.

Still stuck?

If a module you have purchased is greyed out for the Employer Administrator, please reach out to us at support@uzio.com or call +1-571-601-1752. Include your company name and the menu item, with a screenshot of the left navigation as the Employer Administrator sees it.
