Viewing Your Pay Stubs and W-2s

Modified on Mon, 14 Sep at 1:57 PM

Purpose

Where to find your pay stubs and your year-end W-2, when each one appears, and how to choose whether your W-2 comes on paper, electronically, or both.

Who can do this: Any employee at an employer that uses UZIO Payroll. If there is no Payroll tab in your portal, your employer has hidden payroll from the employee portal. Ask your HR or payroll team for your stubs.

Pay stubs

  1. Log in to the employee portal and open Payroll.
  2. Open the Pay Stubs tab. The list shows each stub's Pay Period, Pay Date, Gross Earnings, and Net Pay. Click one to view or download it.

Every approved paycheck appears, including off-cycle and special payrolls, with no cut-off on how far back the list goes.

When a stub appears: on the pay date, not when payroll is approved. As the page itself puts it: "Your pay stub for a pay period will be made available for download on the pay date for that pay period." If payday is Friday, the stub is there Friday even though your employer ran payroll earlier in the week.

What is on the stub: your gross pay for the period, taxes withheld, deductions such as benefits, retirement and garnishments, employer contributions, net pay, and year-to-date totals. Depending on your company's time-off policies, a Time Off section may show your balance as of the pay date. Understanding Your Pay Stub walks through each section.

Note: Missing a stub you expect? Check the pay date first. If the pay date has passed and the stub is still not there, ask your HR or payroll team. Your employer can hide an individual stub, and they can tell you whether that is what happened.

W-2s

Your annual W-2 lives in the same place: Payroll > W-2 Forms. Every year you were paid stays available, not just the most recent one.

Employers finalize W-2s from mid-January onward, and the form for the previous tax year is generally in your portal by the end of January. Paper copies, where your employer has UZIO print them, are mailed during the second half of January.

Download the PDF and file with the W-2 itself rather than your final pay stub. If anything on it is wrong, such as your name, Social Security number, address or wages, contact your HR or payroll team. Corrections are issued by your employer as a W-2c.

Choose how your W-2 is delivered

Open the Payroll > W-2 Delivery Method tab and pick one:

OptionWhat you get
Paper and Electronic DeliveryThe default. A mailed paper copy plus the downloadable copy in the portal.
Electronic DeliveryPortal copy only, no paper. IRS rules require your explicit consent for electronic-only delivery, which is what this selection records.

Make your selection for a tax year by November 30. After that the choice is locked until the end of January, so a change made in December applies to the following year's W-2, not the one being produced.

On the mobile app

The UZIO mobile app covers all three tasks on this page. Sign in with the same username and password you use for the web portal.

  • Pay stubs and W-2 forms can be viewed and downloaded in the app.
  • W-2 delivery method can be viewed and changed in the app, under the same November 30 deadline and the same lock until the end of January.
  • The employer setting that hides payroll from the employee portal hides it in the app too.

The app may show a shorter list than the web portal does. Nothing on the server limits how far back stubs or W-2 forms go, so if a year you need is not in the app, open the web portal. See Using the UZIO Mobile App.
